I always felt that IF you have to do your PhD research - you have to take it seriously - it has to be a topic that excites you - you need to put in enough hours of reading and reflecting. Plus in advance you need to read and decide about your tools and statistical analysis and more important - the WHYs of these. I have always put off doing my PhD as I wanted to do it the right way! I hope that i do it the right way and don't get too perfectionist about it....
So spend an hour everyday on your PhD is more like it...
